Press release | At Axpona 2024 Audio-Technica will demonstrate the finest products in the company’s history: the new Narukami Series HPA-KG Naru Tube Headphone Amplifier/Preamplifier and ATH-AWKG Closed-Back Dynamic Wooden Headphones. These extraordinary works of audio art are handcrafted in Tokyo, Japan from the finest components and materials to deliver a remarkable listening experience.
The amp/preamp and headphones will be available for private audition in Audio-Technica’s Axpona 2024 suites in the Adventure rooms, located on the first floor. Appointments are limited and first come, first served.
The Narukami Series HPA-KG Naru tube amplifier/preamplifier, 108,000 USD, is as striking in appearance as it is in sound quality. It’s styled to reflect the appearance of a karesansui, or dry landscape garden, representing water flows. The front and side panels are made from rare kurogaki wood. The amplifier/preamp employs ultimate-quality components throughout, including four Takatsuki 300B power tubes. The HPA-KG is the culmination of 10 years of painstaking development.
Like the HPA-KG Naru, the Narukami Series ATH-AWKG headphones, 4,200 USD, are made from exotic kurogaki wood. The headphones feature purpose-designed 53 mm drivers with Permendur magnetic circuitry and 6N-OFC high-purity oxygen-free voice coils, among other refinements. The Narukami components will be demonstrated with digital and analog front ends, the latter featuring Audio-Technica’s AT-ART20 moving-coil cartridge, 2,900 USD.
In addition, Audio-Technica will be exhibiting a variety of its high-end phono cartridges, turntables, and headphones. Highlights include the VM Series and VM95 Series moving magnet cartridges, which deliver superb performance at affordable prices thanks to Audio-Technica’s exclusive Dual Moving Magnet design. The acclaimed OC9x Series moving coil cartridges, which have become audiophile classics, will also be on hand.
Audio-Technica will be exhibiting a number of its audiophile headphones such as the ATH-ADX5000 dynamic headphones, 1,999 USD. This open-air design features patent-pending Core Mount Technology - CMT, which symmetrically positions the driver within an Integrated Driver Unit for exceptional clarity, resolution and spaciousness. The ATH-AWKT and ATH-AWAS over-ear and ATH-WP900 portable headphones - 1,899, 1,399 and 650 USD. These combine beautiful Japanese craftsmanship with superb sound quality. The top-of-the-line AT-LP7 audiophile turntable, 849 USD, and AT-LPW50BT-RW wireless turntable with Bluetooth, 499 USD, will also be on exhibit.
