Introducing the PureAudioProject Duet15 Horn1 open baffle speaker

28.04.2025

Press release | Few lines from Ze’ev Schlik, PureAudioProject founder, about its new Duet15 Horn1 open baffle speaker.

Horn speakers are a bit controversial. Though they are not a leading 'mainstream' choice in home-audio, fans of horn speakers are extremely enthusiastic about them, and this community is not small. If I was asked what is the main reason for the mixed feelings many have about horns, I would probably point to the fact that speakers with horns reproduce more of a unique and somewhat 'specific' musical experience.

Our Horn1 was introduced back in 2015 in Trio15 and Quintet15 models, and since it's launch it has gained a reputation for having all the sonic features horns are praised for, while sounding smooth and free from the typical ‘horn-harshness’ many horns suffer from. With the growing popularity of our Duet15, we decided to try and integrate our Horn1 in this model as well... and we are really glad we did this. From the moment the design and voicing were completed, we simply couldn’t stop using this speaker. The level of emotional involvement with the Duet15 Horn1 is in a league of its own. It is hard to put into words how real trumpets, saxophones, piano, or vocals sound. The music is thrown out of this speaker with an unprecedented ease, into the room, with the musicians right in front of you, as if being there.

When it comes to genres, the Duet15 Horn1 is a natural performer with jazz, electronic music, that sounds as if you are at a live event, with acoustical and world music, vocals, chamber music... and I could go on and on. The sense of realism is breathtaking. Yes, horns might reach a limit with reproducing large-scale orchestral music, but if that's the only compromise, the magic of the Horn1 with all other genres is no doubt well worth it.
