Press release | Some lines from Ze’ev Schlik, PureAudioProject founder, about its new release.
For more than twelve years, I had a small room in my home—just 9 feet by 9 feet, about 8m² —that served as a storage room. Over time, it filled up with random stuff, and one day it simply felt right to clear it out and move everything to our main warehouse. That’s when the thought came to me: why not turn this tiny space into a music room, with my record collection and my Nord Grand Electric Piano?
At that time, the smallest speakers we had were the Trio10 and the Duet15, and with a bit of careful tweaking both models came to life surprisingly beautifully in this little room.
There’s a unique kind of magic that happens when you listen to music in the near field. Instruments that you can almost feel, the details, the immediacy, the intimacy… every nuance, every texture, every breath is revealed with effortless and natural clarity. It’s quite stunning how the music simply unfolds so close in front of you.
Though as remarkable as the sound was, both Trio models had a tendency to slightly overpower the space. Their presence was so full and dynamic that, with some recordings, the tiny room felt like it could barely contain the music.
At that point, the challenge became crystal clear, and personal. As someone running a speaker company, I felt determined not to take any compromises and to design a speaker specifically for this small room.
Not surprisingly and as so often happens... the solution was right there in front of my eyes and ears.
The Trio10 with HeilAMT are remarkable speakers with two 10-inch woofers, but wouldn’t one woofer be enough?
Well… removing one woofer, modifying the crossover, and slightly reshaping the frame and the baffle turned out to be a simple and elegant path forward. That’s how the Duet10 was born.
It didn't take long to conclude that the design of the Duet10 was complete. My small room, with its record collection and Nord Grand E-Piano became an intimate, quiet spot to listen to music, play it, take time to think, or simply chill out, whether during a quiet evening, morning coffee, or a midday break.

The sonic and physical proportions between the two drivers of the Duet10, its size, and the size of the room turned out to be just perfect.
But this was not the end of the story. Listening to music in an almost nearfield setup was so magical that it triggered the desire to try a different and superior type of driver for the mid and high frequencies, the Voxativ 5" full-range driver with an Alnico magnet. This driver looked like a perfect match, and now I know that it is!
The musical experience of Duet10 with this 5" Alnico full-ranger setup can be compared to what we experience with Field Coil drivers, and indeed, Field Coil motors and Alnico magnets share some physical similarities that make music sound realistic, organic, emotionally moving and never fatiguing, like no other drivers do.
Mission completed: an Open-Baffle Speaker for extremely small rooms was born.

A few good months have passed since the design and the voicing of Duet10 was completed, and I am still stunned by it’s music experience. It keeps growing... far beyond my initial expectations.
I’ll admit: I'm officially addicted to the sound and the vibe in my transformed, super-small, magical music room… So the time has come—and here we go—officially launching the Duet10. Configure and pre-order the Duet10 here.
